Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who has lost their homes and property due to this devastating flood. Restoring Northshore, Penrose, and the supporting infrastructure, including our schools, must be the highest priority for our leaders.

However, we also recognize that McCook Lake is the heart of our community. The McCook Lake Association (MLA) has always been dedicated to the well-being of the lake. We are committed to assisting our community in this time of need. To collaborate effectively with various government agencies, we have established a committee within the MLA focused on lake restoration.

The mission of this committee is to ensure the timely restoration and future protection of McCook Lake. Our work will unfold in three phases:

1) Assessing the damage
2) Identifying restoration methods and funding sources
3) Implementing measures to prevent future damage.

Update:  The Army Corp of Engineers has completed a lake survey and we are waiting to hear the next steps on how clean-up will proceed.  We anticipate the lake may need to be dredged, at least in some locations.
